Located in eight acres of idyllic woodland lies the 'hidden railway' of Knaphill. The Barrs Lane based Mizens Miniature Railway attracts many visitors to its mile of track from each Easter and most Sundays throughout the summer. Mizens is not so much a miniature railway but a railway in miniature. Their trains and track are 71/4 gauge & 1/8 scale. Everything else though is full size.
The railway moved to Barrs Lane in Knaphill some six years ago and the people behind Mizens are keen to offer something very special for its visitors. You will see that everything there is still very much a 'work in progress' which really does keep each visit interesting.
The whole experience is enhanced by the atmospheric everyday railway scenes and boasts a number of authentic railway style buildings. There is also an old Class 423 'Southern Railway' Slam Door EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) coach on the site that now stands in its own length of full size track.
