We have noticed recent movement at Brookwood Farm.
A Bulldozer, a fresh pile of rubble and building materials consistent with drainage and foundations have appeared on the site since Friday 24 04 09.
Please help us keep watch by adding your observations here .....

Hello, As promised, I contacted a senior officer at the Council today re. the situation on Brookwood Farm. It is expected that the plant machinery etc. is in place because the development on that end of Coresbrook Way of two properties is due to begin.
Any further imnfromation needed, I will be happy to report back.
Many Thanks

I can't believe this is only snagging work to do with Corresbrooke Close. There is too much activity at the farm entrance and it looks like a new road is being built which will mean the already busy 'T' junction in Bagshot Road will become a 'Crossroads'. Sorry, but I think we are being sold a pup here!

Hi, The plant machinery is most certainly to do with the building of the houses. There will be an entrance for the ten low cost housing where the original Farm entrance is at present. That is to be the only entrance. No major junction is to be put there. can you clarify what you mean by 'snagging list' please? The building work for the houses in Coresbrook Way was always to be executed from the Farm side in order to minimise disturbance to the residents in Coresbrook Way. When those houses have been completed there is to be a wall erected which will seal off Coresbrook Way from the later development of the ten house on the Farm Hope that answers some of the concerns. Thanks Councillor Melanie Whitehand

They do seem to be putting down foundations where you would put the aformentioned major junction - on quick glance this morning. Hopefully this is an end to that plan...

Hi,
The entrance to the houses that will back on to the A 322 will be as said earlier from the original Farm gate. I campaigned two years ago to have the large junction stopped when this planning application was being debated in Council and was castigated in a leaflet distributed by a local Lib-Dem Councillor for wasting money. The view being that the junction may have to be put in at a later date. The junction will only be necessary should and I emphasise should, approval be given for the huge development that has been talked of for a few years. I will always champion the desire of the local residents, if the wish is to continue with the objection for the larger develoopment that is the line I will take.
Thanks | |

Well I for one certainly don't want the development - Knaphill is over crowded as it is. So please keep opposing!

People are still having children, there are incomers, having even more, people are getting older PLUS , there is the propensity of the English, especially in the wealthy southeast, to live in large houses (compared to on the continent..... Given that we have to house an increasing population, I would like to invite suggestions as to where housing might be provided, say, in the Knaphill area, which might be agreeable to all.... There is, I think, an idea around, from central goverment, that we should increase density in built areas ie. "infill", rather than further invade open countryside, and woodland areas.....any ideas ?

Hello, We are thinking about moving to Coresbrook Way. Will there be pedestrian access to the main road from that end? Also will the 2 new houses being built be of a similar design to the existing properties? Thank you

They are building 12 'eco friendly' houses on the Brookwood Farm site. The council also have a great opportunity to correct the naming of the area but are still bent on calling it 'Brookwood' Farm when we all know its in Knaphill. As new signs posted by the contractors refer to it as 'Brookwood Farm' it looks like WBC have once again passed up an opportunity to rectify this irritating naming error. At least give us some consolation for continously wrecking our village!

i agree.... the council have been made aware about this by loads of us.... it would be good if they did the right things and called it Knaphill Farm Close for instance...... anyway, where did the 12 houses come from.... i read somewhere here was only going to be two !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I *think* the 12 come from 2 to complete the Coresbrook Way development and 10 new homes. I could easily be wrong about that! Who / which dept would we contact in the council to complain / gently remind about the location being Knaphill and not Brookwood?

Hello,
Just to clarify on the number of houses being built... There are to be two in Coresbrook Way, as said previously, this is to complete on that development. Then there are to be ten built on the open land area, around where the barn is sited. These ten will be accessed from the A322 entrance that was the original Farm entrance. I think that maybe the site is known as 'Brookwood Farm' as most of land is backing away from Knaphill and into Brookwood, but maybe someone could advise me of it's historical background. As for the naming of this new development, I am happy to request that the Council take suggestions from local residents. I understand that residential areas are often named after local dignitairies, so any suggestions???
Thanks

Melanie, do you know if the two houses not being built in this phase are the ones which would effectively block the possibility of constructing the major junction on the original plans?

Hello John,
My understanding is that the two properties not being included in this development of the ten low cost houses,( there is a proposal to build12 properties all tolled on this site, separate from Coresbrook Way), will be built where the entrance is now planned for the ten., this is ,as said, before where the current sign for Brookwood Farm is placed. This is all dependant on the approval of the major development on that land There will be a landscaped area to the right of the ten house build, viewed from the A322 ,(opposite the Sainsbury's junction) that if and when, and you know my thoughts on that, there is the proposal to build the major development on the Farm that will then be opened up and used as the access for those houses. Which effectively means a large junction at that site. .I hope you understood that!!! And I hope that answers your questions. But please contact me directly by phone or Council e-mail and I will respond to any further questions.
Best wishes

Just seen that list of places in Knaphill that the council want to develop on your news feed page. Its digusting that this could happen and exposes the type of people that hide behind the facade that is Woking Borough Council. If these idiots are allowed to continue, there will be nothing of Knaphill left. This news is bother very sad and very, very annoying.........
