Why do estate agents think it's okay to leave their Let By and Sold signs up on Raglan Road for months on end? As a resident on Raglan Road these boards are unsightly and unnecessary. They also give a bad first impression

In September I noticed that Keelans, Manners and Seymours had left their Let By signs up for several weeks. I phoned each one inidividually and asked if they would please remove them. Keelans and Manners happily obliged and were extremely polite and efficient.

Seymours however have been a different story altogether. I have phoned them twice and have emailed them once and their sign is still standing. It's been there for over two months now.

I have spoken to the planning department at the coucil who have advised me that these signs should be taken down between 14 and 21 days of a sale or a let. They also prosecute estate agents that fail to remove their signs. I have photo evidence that their sign has been up since early September and the only reason I took the photo was because it had been up for several weeks already.

Why on earth do estate agents think they are above the law?

It's a shame the counciil don't take a leaf out of their own book and take legal action against all the other advertising hordes and banners that appear everywhere, including those strapped to traffic light poles, and all those tied to the fence outside Winston Churchill School and on railings on the round-about at The Vyne.
