A few weeks ago i went to use the public toilets in the village and to be honest i was appalled.

The smell was so bad of stale urine, it made me physically sick so badley that i didnt use the facilities.

I think the toilets need updating and deep cleaning often.  I have seen the cleaning company van outside and assumed they are kept clean.

I have used other public toilets in the past, like Bagshot village the toilets there are clean and fresh as well as modern.

I understand that toilets are very low on the council's list, but basic hygiene needs to be thought about here.

Sorry for the winge.

Hello Angie,

I will report your complaint to our neighbourhood officer and ask that these toilets are cleaned more regularly that what seems to be the case.

I don't think that the cleaning of public toilets is low on the Council's list as a cleaning regime will have been arranged as part of the maintenance programme.

I will check that out.

Regards

The toilet block in the High Street has been a shocking, smelly disgrace ever since I can remember. My Mother was always emphatic about me giving them a very wide berth so, being a good boy, I never once ventured in . . . until I was about 11 years-old. This, you will understand, was out of absolute neccessity. The image of within still lives with me to this day.

A bulldozer would be more appropriate than more frequent visits from the cleaning agency. Perhaps, once Sainsburys get their way at the Cliftons site, they might be persuaded to re-develop the toilet block for the benefit of the whole village ?

Hi.

Here is the response from WBC on the toilet cleaning programme....

............The toilets are cleaned every day, morning and should be later in the day. One of our Officers checks the maintenance and general condition of toilets every month. Any problems are reported back to Leas Cleaning and works are carried out.

On a day to day basis if members of the public are not happy with the cleanliness of the toilets they should contact us ASAP, or they are more than welcome to contact Leas Cleaning directly and the problem will be resolved ASAP............

Please contact Neighbourhood Services on..

01483 743465

should the toilets need attention..

I will also get back with the direct number for Leas Cleaning....

Many thanks

I wouldn't have thought more frequent cleaning was necessarily the answer, but more thorough.  The results will be just as bad if the cleaning is sloppy but more frequent, but could be improved if the cleaning is thorough though less frequent.  WBC seems to have a track record for accepting substandard services.  Regardless of how much you get paid for something, if you accept a job that requires a standard, you are, or should be, obliged to do the job well.  I've had numerous jobs paying varying rates, inlcuding voluntary, and I did the best I could in all of them.  I didn't say, oh well, I'm not getting as much for this one therefore I'm going to be careless and lazy, I'm getting more for this one therefore I'll make more of an effort!
