Sainsbury's are again trying to extend as I'm many people are aware. Get on the planning committees back and raise your objections!

J Sainsbury are currently making 'improvements' to my (other) local store in Melksham. There has been much ongoing press coverage highlighting certain shortcomings and the distinct lack of transparency over certain aspects At present they're under fire for felling some 400 odd trees when initially the locals were assured that only 100 - 150 or so had to go. There are many links - this one might give you some idea : http://www.melkshamnews.com/blog/?p=500

>so what is wrong with the new plans then?. Has the words "progress" in it somewhere. Nimby's don't like "progress", they like everything to standstill. Eventually, we turn into a back water when much needed business providing jobs, give up and move elsewhere.

I'm all for progress, just not to the detriment of a village. A massive supermarket is not condusive to a village environment, especially when the only reason for the expansion is for J Sainsbury's to make more money but return zero to the area. What's a 'Nimby'??

It would seem that Sainsburys, Melksham have shooted themselves in the footsie. A mass boycott coupled with the opening of an Asda superstore 500 yards away has left them with empty aisles at peak times. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-13208806 . . .and the store is currently midway through a very extensive redevelopment. I counted seventeen cars in the car park at 9.30 on Saturday morning.
